"Demonstration of Utilising
High Volume Fly Ash Based Concrete For Structural Application"
by Bengal Engineering & Science University, Howrah
Scope
The project aims to determine the optimum fly ash content (40
to 60%) in concretes (made with OPC and PPC) designed to meet
the requirements of concrete grades M25, M40 and M60 by using
Indian fly ashes. The mechanical properties and some durability
characteristics of these concretes will also be determined.
Parameters
- Task 1: Procurement of materials - The materials to be used
in the study will be procured.
- Task 2: Characterisation of cementing materials - The physical
properties and chemical composition of cements and fly ashes
will be determined.
- Task 3: Optimisation of fly ash content in concrete - A total
of 33 types of concrete mixtures will be made. The optimum fly
ash content will be determined based on 3, 7 and 28 days compressive
strength and the cost of the concrete mixture.
- Task 4: Performance of high-volume fly ash concretes - based
on Task 3, optimum fly ash content will be determined for each
grade of concrete i.e. M25, M40 and M60 made with both OPC and
PPC. These six types of concretes with optimum fly ash content
plus three control concretes made with each OPC and PPC will
be made.
